Art Gallery Calendar
Kent has been called the "Cultural Heart of the Litchfield Hllls" and for good reason. Kent has focused on art ever since a colony of artists discovered its natural beauty in the late 19th century. Members of that colony established the Kent Art Association in 1923 and this year the organization, still going strong, is celebrating its 101st year.
The legacy of those pioneering artists is everywhere. A casual visitor to Kent will notice that art graces the walls of the Fife ‘n Drum Restaurant and of the Kent Memorial Library. A number of craft galleries also grace the town center where you can find work of some of the top craftspeople from across the country or an assortment of American, Asian, African and Pacific Island art and antiques.

THE ADAS by Alex Katz
A highlight of "The Adas" is Katz's 'Ada Four Times' series which is being shown on the long white gallery wall. Made between 1979-80, the series captures the artist's muse and wife, Ada, in a sequence of portraits that exemplify Katz's mastery of form, color, and the dynamics of perception. The series presents a compelling exploration of Ada's personality through variations in composition, lighting, and mood, reflecting Katz's ongoing fascination with the subtleties of visual representation and the nuances of human expression.. SMOKE SIGNALS IN SUNLIGHT
Kenise Barnes Fine Art is pleased to announce Smoke Signals in Sunlight, a two‑person exhibition featuring new work by Hudson Valley–based artists Susan English and Laura Moriarty. The exhibition brings together two artists whose practices are deeply rooted in material exploration, natural processes, and the poetics of landscape—each approaching abstraction through distinct yet resonant vocabularies.
Smoke Signals in Sunlight highlights English’s poured‑polymer paintings and Moriarty’s encaustic monoprints and sculpture. Both artists engage with time, transformation, and the physical forces that shape the natural world. Their works—layered, atmospheric, and quietly powerful—invite viewers to consider the subtle signals and shifting terrains that define our environment.(read more…)

INLINE by Renaud Charrin
Peggy Mercury is pleased to present INLINE, a new installation by French-American artist Renaud Charrin.
INLINE features large, wall-based works that transform everyday materials into dynamic compositions of tension and release. Using mounted rods of clear plexiglass and ropes stretched across vivid color fields, Charrin reimagines their function. These familiar objects shift into new roles—becoming landscapes of rhythm, restraint, and possibility. Like lines drawn in space, the works guide the eye across invisible axes, where symmetry falters and energy surges. Though anchored in place, the pieces appear charged with motion, as if poised to shift at any moment.

Her reputation as a Sculptor precedes her, as her work is collected across the country. Her trademark bats and burros are so uniquely recognizable and possess a timeless elegance which has been well received in Galleries in New Mexico, California, Florida and as far afield as Shanghai. At her home in Litchfield, you cannot help but be captivated by Tritscheller’s sense of style and refinement. Surrounding herself with her process in various forms as well as works that inspire.
