Art Gallery Calendar
Kent has been called the "Cultural Heart of the Litchfield Hllls" and for good reason. Kent has focused on art ever since a colony of artists discovered its natural beauty in the late 19th century. Members of that colony established the Kent Art Association in 1923 and this year the organization, still going strong, is celebrating its 101st year.
The legacy of those pioneering artists is everywhere. A casual visitor to Kent will notice that art graces the walls of the Fife ‘n Drum Restaurant and of the Kent Memorial Library. A number of craft galleries also grace the town center where you can find work of some of the top craftspeople from across the country or an assortment of American, Asian, African and Pacific Island art and antiques.

ROZ CHAST
After five years, Carol Corey Fine Art will host its final show in May—an exhibition of new works by legendary New Yorker cartoonist and longtime gallery friend, Roz Chast. Chast, whose off-kilter, wiggly characters and relatably anxious worldview have been part of the American subconscious for decades, was the natural choice to give Carol Corey’s gallery a memorable sendoff....

CONVERT LIGHT ENERGY Kenise Barnes Fine Art is honored to present an exhibition featuring hand-painted cyanotypes by Julia Whitney Barnes and drawings by Sarah Morejohn.
Julia Whitney Barnes is well known for her innovations in Cyanotype (camera-less photographic printing process) paintings. Her multi-step process includes harvesting flora (flowers and weeds being equally important) and combining several species into a single composition on photo sensitive cotton paper.
Sarah Morejohn’s fascination with non-linear patterns in nature drives her work. Through drawing, she considers how the relationship to nature is mediated both by objective understanding and subjective imagining of it.
