The Kent Chamber of Commerce plans an exciting 2012. The Annual Kent Sidewalk Festival moves back to the first weekend in August (Thursday Aug. 2 thru Sunday Aug. 5) and promises another exciting weekend. Sales at the town’s independent retail stores, music, and fun for children are all part of the event. The 2nd Annual Kent Charity Golf Classic will take place on June 4 at the Lake Waramaug Country Club. AND ~ DON'T FORGET: The 36th Annual Kent Pumpkin Run takes place on Sunday, October 29 and the 3rd Annual Kent Gingerbread Festival begins right after Thanksgiving. Come and be part of Kent!

- Earl Mosley’s Institute of the Arts | ”Come See Us Dance” Scholarship Benefit ~ Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kent Community House, 93 North Main Street, Kent. The evening features extraordinary dance performances by Earl Mosley’s Institute of the Arts dancers and guest arts. The annual benefit supports partial scholarships for nearly 90% of the students attending the summer dance intensive (held at the Marvelwood School from July 8 – August 4). Guests will enjoy cocktails and fabulous hors d’oeuvres in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. Families are welcome with children under 12 free being engaged in a few dance steps with the EMIA dancers and treated to special snacks. Rex Brasher Artwork & Stories will feature Deborah & Melode Brasher, grandnieces of the famous artist. Brasher has been called the 20th century Audubon for his realistic paintings of birds in their natural settings. From 1911-1960, Brasher made his home near Kent. He was also a founder of the Kent Art Association. The Brasher sisters will bring their memories of Uncle Rex, his life story, and some of his paintings. - KVFD Firemen’s Ball | Saturday June 9, 2012. The Kent Firemen’s Ball is a gala event looked forward to by many all year. It offers a chance to catch up with fellow residents, enjoy good food and dance the night away. Festivities will kick off at 6:00 PM with hors d’oeuvres and music at the firehouse.
