Connecticut's
classy answer to the Newport Jazz Festival
This is the festival musicians love—and
so will you. It’s the festival with something for
everyone— from the best professional music around,
to heartwarming performances by students of our music and
dance programs, to great food and drink, art and photography,
and crafts of all kinds. It’s the people friendly
festival, with kids under 12 free on the lawn (accompanied
by a parent) and a smoke-free listening area. The acoustics
are excellent, whether you choose the cool, Main Stage Tent
or pick a spot on the lawn. Call early and ask for our money-
saving JazzPasses.

Mountain Summer Music Festival

Music
Mountain offers a marvelous setting for both the musicians
and the audience
2004 was Music Mountain’s Diamond
Jubilee Season, its 75th year. It remains the oldest continuing
Summer chamber music festival in this country. It was founded
in 1930 by Jacques Gordon as the permanent home of the Gordon
String Quartet. Music Mountain is managed by a group
of dedicated volunteers, as it has been for all
of its 75 seasons. It may well be the only cultural institution
of its importance to be so managed. This permits the money
Music Mountain raises to be used to fulfill its mission
of education and performance (aside from portions going
to necessary maintenance).Funding for Music Mountain has
always come primarily from the audience attending these
concerts, either as ticket revenue or as contributions.
This generosity by Music Mountain’s friends, which
includes the artists who perform here for far below their
customary fees, enable us to continually expand our activities,
adding more concerts and teaching programs each year.
