Dear Future and Kent Chamber Members:

2009 promises to be a very challenging year for all of us!

Your continued membership is vital to our volunteer organization. Going forward, we need to maintain a healthy business community and continue to attract tourists, new businesses and future home owners, which impacts all of us!

New Events for 2009:

  • The Litchfield Jazz Festival Camp - July
  • Discussions currently involve bringing the Jazz Festival to Kent!

2009 Annual Events/ Projects that need embellishing & updating:

  • Summer Festival
  • Pumpkin Run
  • Shorter Days Brighter Lights Holiday Gathering
  • The Business to Business Networking
  • Our Chamber website - an invaluable advertising tool
  • Walking-Retail Map to be reprinted
  • Group Advertising must continue
  • Work with all volunteer groups to coordinate a town calendar for events/activities

We hope to see you all at the Annual Cocktail Party to be held on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Morrison Gallery! Thank you for your continued support. Without all of you there is no Kent Chamber of Commerce!

The Town of Kent seal is divided into five sections, each containing a symbol of the development of the town. Across the entire midsection is an open book with the words

"Settled 1720" and "incorp. 1739". To the left

of the book is a church, to the right, a school. The upper third of the crest is divided into two sections by a large diamond shaped arrowhead. The left corner contains a crown, a reminder of early sovereign rule. The upper right corner contains a cow and stone iron furnace, both early and important industries. Finally, the bottom third of the crest contains a large gear, symbol of what was once, Kent's local industry.
